Daily Cartoon: American Dad S06E03 “Best Little Horror House in Langley Falls”

Another day, another Halloween episode recap right here on Car JoeMeZ! Thanks to everybody who has been coming here each weekday to see what I’ve been watching and please be sure to check out the new Car JoeMeZ YouTube channel where I’ve been posting some videos of toy unboxings, trying out new foods or some of my old wrestling matches from my past life as an independent wrestler! If you could be so kind as to even subscribe to it, that would be greatly appreciated!

Last week, we watched an episode of Family Guy and today, we’ll hit another Seth MacFarlane show, American Dad. I pretty much hated the former, but I’ve been a big fan of the latter for some time now. When American Dad debuted, I didn’t see myself enjoying it long-term, but as time went on and the characters and tone got fleshed out, I really liked it. One of the biggest things behind me getting more into it was the repeated airings on TBS as I’d find myself constantly laughing or shaking my head as they toed the line with a joke.

It’s something you should check out if you haven’t and something you should get back into if you’ve been away for a while. Thankfully, they have some Halloween stuff for us to indulge in during this season so let’s get right to it! Continue reading

Daily Cartoon: The Venture Bros. S05E01 “A Very Venture Halloween”

Welcome to another week of Halloween cartoon episode recaps and I couldn’t be more excited than I am to be kicking it off with an absolute favorite show of mine: The Venture Bros!

I was kind of late to the party when this show starting airing in 2003, but once I got on board I was hooked and there was no turning back. Even now, it’s one of those shows that I’ll put on and rewatch when I can’t figure out what I want to do.

For all I know, it could be still running. In the past sixteen years, there’s only been seven seasons with the latest coming just last year so who’s to say it won’t be back three years from now? Regardless, today we’ll be taking a look at the Season 5 premiere which really wasn’t that at all since the rest of Season 5 didn’t come out for like another eight months after this. This was just a one-off special for Halloween that fits in as Episode 1. OK, semantics, who cares? But it’s good, so fire up those Hulu machines and hit play.

Daily Cartoon: Family Guy S09E04 “Halloween on Spooner Street”

It’s a Friday and we’re closing out our third week of Halloween cartoon recaps! The time flies when you’re having fun.

Today we’re checking out the Season 9 Halloween-themed Family Guy. Over the years, they’ve done a number of Halloween episodes, so why this one? Because I Googled something and found a list that ranked this particular one the best of all in the series. Easy enough, right?

Full disclosure: I am not what you would call a fan of this show. I absolutely loved its initial run before being cancelled, but grew tired of it rather quickly after it was resurrected. Since then, I’ve caught episodes here and there with very mixed opinions on what I’d seen. It’s not even a Seth MacFarlane thing as I very much enjoy American Dad and loved The Cleveland Show while it was around. Something about Family Guy though just grinds my gears.

Yes, that was just a Family Guy reference to illustrate my dislike of the show. Big whoop, wanna fight about it?

Now that the table’s been set, let’s get on with the show. Fire up your Hulu machines and hit that play button! Continue reading

Daily Cartoon: Jem & The Holograms S02E16 “Trick or Techrat”

Welcome to another Halloween cartoon recap! What a week we’ve had so far, right?! The hits just keep coming and I’m sure they’ll continue today as we check out a chapter from one of my favorite shows ever: Jem and the Holograms!

I’m completely biased here, I love this show. Going back as far as I can remember, I’ve always loved rock bands with female singers and – if anything – this show probably helped form that opinion. I just always thought it was great and “re-discovered” it a few years back when it was up on Netflix.

I mean, it’s competing rock bands battling not only for musical supremacy, but doing shit like sabotaging each other’s vehicles and lives. It’s absolutely bonkers. The Misfits could be trying to run The Holograms off a fucking winding road and cause permanent injury or even death! The stakes of the music industry are more than I ever thought before seeing this show!

This episode from Season 2 is called “Trick or Techrat” and I have absolutely no clue what that’s referencing or what the plot will be which is even better. I love being surprised. So, without further ado, let’s watch some cartoons! Continue reading

Daily Cartoon: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic S02E04 “Luna Eclipsed”

What’s up, everybody? Welcome to another Halloween cartoon recap and I hope you’re strapped in and ready for wildness because I am expanding my horizons today.

I know that this has been a big deal for quite a while now, but I have never seen an episode of My Little Pony. I know there were toys and stuff in the 80s when I was just a young buck with a dime in my pocket and a dream in my heart, but I’d think it’s way more popular in recent years than it was back then.

Yeah, this is the My Little Pony I remember and those toys are basic as fuck. I hope today’s are much better for the sake of those playing with them.

Regardless, I’ve never been a Brony. Not like there’s anything wrong with that: I like plenty of my own weird shit, but I’ve just never branched into this realm. So today, I’ll peep it and see what all the hullabaloo is all about. You can find this on Netflix if you want to watch along and – let’s be serious – why wouldn’t you? Let’s do this, Brutus! Daily Cartoon: Tiny Toon Adventures S03E15 “The Horror of Slumber Party Mountain”

It’s time for another Halloween episode recap! Yay! Huzzah! Way to go! I can dress myself!

I’m really excited to watching today blog installment. Tiny Toon Adventures was the bee’s knees for a while when I was a kid. It was a fresh take on the Looney Tunes association and felt fresh and new while existing in the same universe as the classic characters. It had a ton of merch, a super popular direct-to-VHS movie and was the subject of one of my favorite Nintendo games of all time!

It was very Super Mario 3ish, but was just oodles of fun!

This series isn’t something I’ve gone back to look at that much, but all of the fond memories make it something to be excited for. I just don’t want to be disappointed. Nahhh…that would be unpossible.

Fire up those Hulu machines and check it out with me. It’s Tiny Toon Adventures and it’s happening….now!

Daily Cartoon: Animaniacs S01E30 “Draculee Draculaa/PhrankenRunt”

Welcome to a fresh new week of Halloween episode recaps! Last week featured some terrific viewing and, hopefully, this week will produce more of the same.

We’ve recapped Animaniacs on this site before, but today we’ll go back and watch their Season 1 Halloween themed episode. This was always a show that I liked a lot when I was younger even though a lot of the jokes went over my head at the time, but when looking back now, have a greater appreciation for how smart the writing was. There’s a lot in here that makes you wonder how they were able to slip certain lines past the censors and get them into a kids show. It’s terrific.

That’s what I’m looking for today. To be entertained and to find something that I know I sure as shit didn’t understand when I was 12, but an older, wiser me thinks is gangbusters. Hit me with it! Continue reading

Daily Cartoon: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles S05E17 “Monsters Among Us”

Welcome to another Halloween episode review as we finally (I think) conclude what has become an epic spooky-season Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles saga.

What I thought was just your run of the mill seasonal installment has turned into a four day time-traveling spectacular with the Turtles making stops in ancient Egypt, middle ages Transylvania, 1800s Germany and now…well we don’t know where they end up going today just yet, but I cannot wait to find out.

The demon villain, Savanti Romero, has assembled his crew of a mummy, werewolf, Dracula and Frankenstein’s monster in his attempt to further his objective of overtaking present day New York City with his gaggle of zombies and monsters. It’s an uphill battle, but the Turtles – aided by their time-traveling pal Renet – never say day, never give up and always give 110%!

So here we are: the thrilling conclusion to a Halloween gone sideways! Continue reading

Daily Cartoon: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles S05E16 “The Frankenstein Experiment”

Welcome back to another Halloween cartoon recap which also happens to be another episode of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles because this show has absolutely bamboozled me and now has me on Part 3 of an epic Halloween saga!

I definitely wasn’t planning on writing about three episodes of this show, but I was hooked from the jump and – when the story continued into the next episode – had no choice but to keep going.

So here we are on Day 3 of TMNT and I’m pretty excited about it. When we left off, the Turtles had failed in their attempt to stop Savanti Romero from adding Dracula to his growing army of monsters and also lost one of their brothers as Raphael was bitten by the vampire and has turned heel. Savanti moves further into the future to locate his next recruit and when the Turtles and their time-traveling friend Renet catch up, they find themselves in Germany outside Dr. Frankenstein’s castle.

What a dramatic turn of events! Savanti already can claim a Mummy (the Egyptian Pharaoh), Dracula and a werewolf (the traveler from yesterday’s installment) so maybe after Frankenstein we can get a run-in by the Creature from the Black Lagoon and really make this a Monster Mash!

We’re all caught up so it’s time to sign into Hulu and hit play! Continue reading

Daily Cartoon: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles S05E15 “The Crypt of Dracula”

Welcome back to another Halloween cartoon episode recap and – unexpectedly – we are picking up right where we left off yesterday. Since I was completely unaware that the yesterday’s installment was a multi-episode engagement, we’re going to come right back and see what more Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has to give us.

Truth be told, by the end of yesterday’s episode, I was totally into it and didn’t even realize we were coming up to the end so when it cut to credits I was all sorts of aghast. I made the decision right then and there that we were just going to bring this back to see what happened next.

When we left off, the Turtles along with their time-traveling friend, Renet, took a big L at the hands of Savanti Romero (another time traveler, but an evil one who is building an army by jumping time periods). Savanti escapes an ancient Egyptian tomb with the no-longer-buried Pharaoh and opens a portal to the Middle Ages to continue building his army. The Turtles had hoped to stop that before Savanti even got started to bring back peace and normalcy to their current-day New York which has been overrun with a curse perpetrated by Savanti that’s turning normal civilians into zombie vampires on Halloween of all days.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Renet’s scepter – which is what allows our heroes to travel through time – is at a dangerously low power level and cannot be recharged until they get back…to the future (yesssssssss). They’re already taking a chance at being stuck forever by following Savanti into the Middle Ages, but what choice do they have? Savanti Romero must be stopped.

Which bring us to today… Continue reading
