Daily Cartoon: King Of The Hill S02E04: “Hilloween”

Welcome back to another exciting Halloween cartoon recap! Whereas yesterday’s installment was a show I’d never before seen, today’s is a series that I’m very familiar with, but – much like Futurama – didn’t fully appreciate in its time.

I certainly liked King of the Hill upon it’s debut, but whether it was age (I would have been a sophomore when it started) or the fact that Fox shuffled this series as well between time slots (a recurring theme), it wasn’t something that I grew to love until it began getting released on DVD so I could binge and fall in love with it completely. Actually, looking back, it seems like some kind of a miracle that this show held on for 13 seasons, but that’s not a complaint at all. To this day, I have a cornucopia of Bobby Hill gifs that are easy go-tos for any situation.

And those are just easy ones. Check any gif library and there’s dozens to choose from! Or, if you really can’t decide, hit up pro-wrestler and co-host of The Off The Hop Rope PodcastThe Abominable CPA because he’s basically an encyclopedia of Bobby Hill content.

Anyway, this is an early episode from Season 2 where Hank promises to show Bobby the true meaning of Halloween. This show is available in its entirety on Hulu and is the perfect candidate for a nice, long rewatch if you need to take a break from the 43rd run through of Parks and Rec that you’re on. Daily Cartoon: Adventure Time S03E13 “From Bad to Worse”

Welcome to the beginning of our final week of Halloween episodes! I don’t know about all of you, but if you’ve been following along, I’m getting pretty tired of Halloween and really can’t wait to get to start something new.

On the other hand, jumping around with all these different shows has been fun in its own way and I’ve got to see some things I’d never have probably checked out if I didn’t need material to fill a month of website content. Such is the story of today’s show: Adventure Time.

You probably think I’m already nuts for saying that, but it’s true. With all the cartoons and shows in general that I watch, I have never seen even 30 seconds of Adventure Time. No particular reason why or how, I just never have. Yes, I’m fully aware that it has a huge following and is super popular to all the kids. I’ve seen a gazillion people cosplaying Finn at Comic Cons and one time at a porn convention (I’m completely serious…and the people there loved it so the crossover between this show and porn must be insane), but me, the guy that always feels like he has his fingers relatively near the pulse of what’s happening in pop culture has never taken the time to watch this.

Well, chief, that changes today! We’ll be firing up those Hulu machines and getting hyped because right now is adventure time (not to be confused, but strangely blends in with Adventure Time)! Continue reading

Daily Cartoon: Futurama S03E01 “The Honking”

Welcome to your Friday cartoon recap where today we’ll be looking at what I believe is the only Halloween themed episode of Futurama. This was one of those shows that I didn’t truly appreciate during its run and only really came to love once it was being shown in marathons on Comedy Central.

I can’t tell you why I didn’t love it from the jump; maybe unfamiliarity, maybe the way it kept getting jerked around into different time slots all the time, I don’t know. But it took a while for this to become a show that I would think of as one of “my” shows.

In my research – the equivalent of Googling “Futurama Halloween” – I came across this episode and thought it’d make a fine addition to this cavalcade of blogs I’ve got going on right now. It’s Halloween Futurama-style. What could go wrong? Continue reading
